Chiang Khan is a small city laying just beside the bank of the Mekong river facing Laos, in the north eastern province of Loei in Isaan. Famous among Thai Tourists for its kitsch walking street. The most impressive scenes of Chiang Khan are the simple wooden houses adapted to be guest houses, coffee shops, and souvenir shops that line both sides of this classic walking street.
Peaceful and quiet in the day, taking a strolling down the street, the full spectrum of the cultural and architecture beauty of the mostly teak wood house will be truly appreciate.
By nightfall however, the street transforms into a bustling night market where a wide arrage of local food and culture are abound to be savoured. Especially during weekends, local urban Thais love to spend their weekends here in the nostalgic environment that the city provides.
Our stay at Thai MaNee Guest House, one of the many guest houses that line the street was a pleasent experience. Situated on the side of the Mekong River, the balcony at both ends of the house provided a great view of both the street and the river.
An early morning stoll along the bank of the Mekong river overseeing Laos offers a rejuvenating start to another beautiful day in this beautiful and nostalgic town.
