Located in the western province of Tak, in the Wildlife Sanctuary of UmPhang district, Tee Lor Shoo (Thi Lor Su) waterfall is often referred to as the "largest" waterfall in Thailand, where their tourism brochures claim that it’s the "sixth largest" and among the "six most beautiful" waterfalls in the world.
To us, when we saw it, it is simple just AWESOME!
During rainy season, Thi Lor Su Waterfall thunders over 400-metre-long and 200-metre-tall vertical cliffs amid the dense jungle of Thailand’s far western frontier. In the dry months it transforms into an angelic set of falls with refreshing pools to swim in. Visiting Thi Lor Su requires planning, time and effort -- and it’s worth it.
Arriving at the main entrance to the sanctuary, do expect to pay about 2000 baht to rent a 4 X 4 pick-up truck with driver for a round trip, not including food or entrance fees. The truck will then send you to the sanctuary headquarter.which is 26.5km away. However do be prepared for a very slow and bumpy adventurous ride as the terrain leading to the headquarter are largely unpaved mud road with pot holes all the way along the path. This is how your ride will be like on those pick-up trucks ferrying people that you will see in the video. And this is also why 4 X 4 trucks are recommended for this ride.
Once at the headquater, it's then a relatively easy three-kilometre hike along a concrete walkway to the waterfall.
A large viewing platform sits at the end of the main trail from where the amazing views of the waterfull can be fully appreciated!
The waterfall with its different tiers makes it a simply awesone and magnificent view that any travellers in the province of Tak must never miss!
