Exploring Sweden

After a hearty breakfast at our hotel, we are out at 9am, towards our 1st point of interest.

Along the way to the old town, the street view was itself pretty amazing.

1st stop is the Stockholm's Old Town, Gamla Stan. "Gamla Stan, the Old Town, is one of the largest and best preserved medieval city centers in Europe, and one of the foremost attractions in Stockholm. This is where Stockholm was founded in 1252."

In the middle of Gamla Stan is Stortorget, the oldest square in Stockholm. Stortorget is the central point from which runs Köpmangatan, the oldest street in Stockholm, which was mentioned as early as the fourteenth century.

There are many alleys all around the blocks of buildings around the square. Within the alleys, one can observe many wonderful and beautiful architectures.

And an amazing storty about the coming about of the Swedish's IRON BOY !

Next destination, the The Vasa Museum. The street views during the journey was awesomely beautiful too.

The Vasa is the only preserved seventeenth-century ship in the world, and a unique art treasure. More than 95 percent of the ship is original, and it is decorated with hundreds of carved sculptures. The 69 meter-long warship Vasa sank on its maiden voyage in the middle of Stockholm in 1628, and was salvaged 333 years later in 1961.

This museum traces the whole history of the ship from when it was built, sank and the journey of how it was found, raised and preserved. Indeed and awesome piece of artifact!

Outside the musuem...

We then proceeded for our lunch at Restaurang Gubbhyllan, which is located on the right after the entrance of Open Air Museum for

Skansen.

Our lunch with traditional Swedish meat balls. Yummy!

Outside the restuarant.

After lunch, we proceeded to our final destination for the day, Drottningholm Palace, while again admiring the street view during the journey.

And we are ready for the tour of Drottningholm Palace, one of Sweden's UNESCO site and it is also the best preserved royal palace constructed in the seventeenth century, the permanent residence of the royal family.

Inside the palace, an awesome experience indeed.

After the wonderful 7 hours tour jorney to the 3 attractions, we were transported back to our hotel where we then took a short stroll around the area for afew more photos before retiring for the night for our program the next day.
