We visited our good friends who is living in Geelong, Victoria who were so kind as to drive all the way to Melbourne Airport to pick us up.
We stay with them for afew days in Geelong, during which they hosted us to visit the areas around in Geelong, and also a trip to Melbourne.
As it was quite late reaching their home, and we are also very tired from our flight, we rested for the night there.
The next evening, we took a short drive to Geelong's Fishmen's Wharf to have a stroll there while started our sight seeing.
Early morning on 17th May, we set off to Melbourne city for our 1st every experience there. We spent the day walking around in Melbourne, visited the Arts Museum, and the beautiful riverside just next to the museum.
As we were staying in Geelong with our friends for a week, they brought us around to visit all the interesting places there.
1st up is a very beautiful church with a very rich history. The architecture and design were simple breath taking.
This small little heritage railway station give a glimpse of olden days transportation in the area.
And one of the many beautiful beaches in Victoria, Bells Beach.
And most interesting is Sovereign Hill, a heritage gold mining town. It is like a theme park to relive the olden days when migrant workers flocked there in the hope of striking it rich, when gold was 1st discovered there. The many shops with traditional craftsmen and the many scheduled performances, indeed allowed visitors to not only have a full day of fun, but also learning about how life was then. Interesting and educative indeed!
And the wives even tried their luck hoping to find some gold, which is free to be taken away if one can find it there.
These reconstructions of the living quarters of the migrant workers from different cultural backgrounds can make one feels as if it was still in those days.
After about a week with our friends, its time for us to say goodbye . We then proceeded to Melbourne where we will officially start our tour package there.
